To prevent moisture entering the fuel pump and fan relays located under the right hand plastic side cover on 2005 FSE450. Run a bead of silicon or resin around the edge of the relay (The side that the pins come out) to stop water and corrosion entering and damaging the relay.
When cleaning your bike place a plastic bag over the Speedo to eliminate chance of water getting in and damaging it.
The side stand can hit the L/H side cover if the lower mounting bracket for the side cover has been bent in. Fitting a spacer(washer) behind the side cover and bending the mounting bracket out will prevent this . Remember the stand is only designed for the weight of the bike and not the rider sitting on the bike.
Fitting a thick cable tie to the bottom of the outer fork leg, (just above the fork seal), on the Marzocchi forks will stop the fork protectors rubbing on the fork outer.
Use never seize grease on the radiator shroud bolts that go into the radiator to prevent them seizing in the nuts.(Never lock tight)
Cutting the foot peg spring lugs and placing them on the top side of each peg and swapping the springs from right to left will lower the pegs about 15mm for taller riders that need extra leg room.
When moving your handlebars to the forward position on the 2004 models, you need to lower the speedo. Simply re-drill the speedo mounting hole about 12mm above the original hole, (on the FSE450 you will also need to fit a 5mm spacer between the speedo and the top fork clamp). This will allow the handlebars not to interfere with the speedo.
Optional shorter clutch levers and optional longer gear leaver are available through your GAS GAS dealer.
Fitting a washer on the top of the rear collars on the front mud guard will give that extra clearance between the guard and the frame downtube to prevent it rubbing in muddy conditions.
To prevent the air box lid from being opened accidently when riding, fit a 4-5mm long rubber hose (small diameter fuel hose) on the air box lid screw between the plastic washer and the inner lid.
Draining the LHS power valve cover after each ride through the rubber hose that comes from the powervalve chamber will prevent a build up of carbon and help keep the powervalves operating smoothly.
